Charlottesville City

The metro's urban core. The University of Virginia, the pedestrian Downtown Mall, and the densest food-and-music scene in central Virginia.

Albemarle County

The county wrapped around the city. Crozet sits under the Blue Ridge, Keswick is horse country, and most of the metro's suburban neighborhoods are here.

Greene County

Ruckersville and Stanardsville at the foot of the Blue Ridge, a commutable, lower-tax county with Shenandoah National Park out the back door.

Fluvanna County

Lake Monticello and the Rivanna River southeast of the city. The metro's most affordable subdivisions, plus rural acreage.

Nelson County

Wintergreen Resort and the Route 151 brewery-and-cidery corridor. Mountain living with one of the lowest county tax rates in the metro.
